Climate change is now one of the most widely recognised threats to society and the natural world. It's happening faster than scientific research predicted, and year on year it will affect all of us more. Like a Supertanker in the sea, the momentum has built up over decades of over-consumerism and a lack of transparency, and yes it will be hard to slow down, but not impossible!
Sure, you aren't going to stop that Supertanker on your own, but there's good news, you aren't on your own!. Most people have already committed to permanent changes to their life in order to become more sustainable and live low impact, and research shows that most people want to do more. An Ipsos survey of 21,000 adults from 28 countries carried out for the 2020 World Economic Forum revealed 86% wanted the world to become more sustainable and equitable rather than go back to how it was before COVID-19.
So what can you do? well there's plenty, but becoming more sustainable can appear a little daunting and it can be all too easy to come up with excuses to hold you back, habits, time pressures, perceived cost, peer pressure and a lack of understanding being just a few and like with losing weight or getting fitter, you and your family are likely to find slow gradual changes more likely to stick.
Like with getting fitter, it helps to have somebody coaching you along the way, someone to give you the knowledge you need, encouragement and suggest tips and tricks to make it easier. Our mission at Live Low Impact is to coach you towards living a more sustainable life and help strip away some of those barriers for you so you can eventually reach your own definition to 'Live Low Impact'.
